PERIODONTOLOGY

Periodontics deals mainly with the diseases of the tissues surrounding the teeth. The main diseases are gingivitis and periodontitis and usually appear with symptoms such as gum bleeding, mobility or movement of the teeth, as well as discovery of dental roots.
The classic treatment of patients with periodontal problems involves their conservative and surgical treatment. Newer developments in Regenerative Tissue and Prosthetics have expanded the applications of Periodontology so that advanced tasks such as tissue regeneration around the teeth, surgical elongation of the mucous membrane or the ulnarophoresis can be performed even in non-periodontal patients.
Surgery, such as alveolar ridge augmentation and open or closed elevation of the sinuses, may be needed in addition to facilitate prosthetic restoration.
